Overview

Beneath the futuristic, neo-retro 'black arrow' bodywork sits the engine and trellis frame of the KTM 390 Duke. It swaps the KTM's aggressive streetfighter stance for upright scrambler ergonomics, wire-spoked wheels, and Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres. It is agile, punchy, and highly sought after, but its polarizing looks and tiny fuel tank aren't for everyone. Note: For 2024, Husqvarna launched an entirely new 399cc generation; this entry covers the original 373cc model.

Pros

  • Punchy, high-revving 373cc engine is genuinely thrilling
  • WP Apex suspension is better than most bikes in this price bracket
  • Standard up/down quickshifter (Easy Shift) from 2020 onwards
  • Striking aesthetics stand out from typical learner bikes

Cons

  • Tiny 9.5L fuel tank restricts range to well under 200km
  • Seat is firm and pillion accommodation is virtually non-existent
  • Tall 835mm seat height can intimidate shorter learners

Known problems

low
Dash condensation and reset
The round digital dashboard is prone to internal condensation after rain or washing. Occasionally, it will reset its clock or trip meter due to electrical gremlins.
Fix: Replaced under warranty frequently. If buying used out of warranty, check that all dash elements display clearly.
Any
low
Quickshifter false neutrals
The standard 'Easy Shift' quickshifter can be clunky, frequently finding a false neutral between 5th and 6th gear if not shifted forcefully.
Fix: Be deliberate with foot inputs. Adjusting the shift lever position to suit the rider's boot often resolves it.
