It's the bike you think it is

Compliance plate model code reads SV650SU or SV650UA
The full-power bike carries a different model code — the U is the tell.
Both variants are 645cc and look identical, so capacity tells you nothing here.

Frame VIN and engine number match the registration papers
PPSR check: no finance owing, not written off or stolen ppsr.gov.au ↗ (a few dollars, needs the VIN)

Valve clearance check every 24,000km: ask when it was last doneunverified

What to look for
From April 2018 Suzuki Australia sold the LAMS and full-power SV650 side by side. They are visually identical — same bodywork, same badges, same 645cc on the engine case — and the only difference is the ECU tune. Private ads routinely describe any SV650 as a learner bike because most of them are, and a seller may believe it themselves. Riding the full-power bike on a learner or provisional licence is unlicensed riding: the insurance is void and the bike can be impounded.

What to look for
While generally bulletproof, high-mileage SV650s can eventually suffer from stator failure, stopping the battery from charging.

What to look for
The steel trellis frame, swingarm, and exhaust headers are prone to surface rust if the bike is stored outside or ridden in wet, salty conditions.
