It's the bike you think it is

• Look it up on your state register by its code, not its name CNEX
• NSW files it under the shared Interceptor/Continental GT/Shotgun platform code CNEX with the description "Super Meteor 650", not under a Super Meteor-specific code — searching for a distinct "Super Meteor" code will read as not found when it is filed under CNEX instead.
• Victoria lists it by name: "Super Meteor 650" and "Super Meteor 650 Touring", 648cc.
• Queensland's learner table (last updated 7 September 2026) doesn't list it yet. Riders in QLD should confirm with TMR before buying.
• It's on your state's LAMS list today (registers change) Look up a code · NSW · QLD · VIC

Every used bike

• Frame VIN and engine number match the registration papers
• PPSR check: no finance owing, not written off or stolen ppsr.gov.au ↗ (a few dollars, needs the VIN)
• Registration is current, and in the seller's name

Service history to ask for

• Service records every 10,000km / 12 monthsunverified
• Valve clearance check every 10,000km — checked at every service: ask when it was last doneunverified

  What to look for

  The Super Meteor 650 has been on sale in Australia since 2023, which is not long enough for a used-buyer fault pattern to emerge the way it has for the longer-running Interceptor 650 on the same engine. The only items worth budgeting for at this stage are ordinary wear: chain and sprockets at interval, and the tappet check at every 10,000km service that Royal Enfield applies across this engine family.

This is a checklist, not a diagnosis. Anything that fails, or that you can't check, is worth a mechanic's pre-purchase inspection. Amber “unverified” tags mean we couldn't confirm that figure against a manufacturer source.
