It's the bike you think it is

• Look it up on your state register by its code, not its name CB300R or CBF300NA
• Queensland's register carries this bike only as CBF300NA. Searching it for "CB300R" returns nothing, which reads as not approved and isn't — NSW lists both strings against the one model.
• Victoria's list leaves it out altogether. VicRoads says on that page its list is not exhaustive, so treat the gap as no evidence rather than a no, and use the VicRoads registration lookup if you need a definite answer.
• It's on your state's LAMS list today (registers change) Look up a code · NSW · QLD · VIC

Every used bike

• Frame VIN and engine number match the registration papers
• PPSR check: no finance owing, not written off or stolen ppsr.gov.au ↗ (a few dollars, needs the VIN)
• Registration is current, and in the seller's name

Service history to ask for

• Service records every 12,000km / 12 months
• Valve clearance check every 24,000km: ask when it was last doneunverified

Known faults to check for

• Check for: Chain and sprocket wear Shows up: 15k-25k km · Repair: $200-300
  What to look for

  The CB300R is a highly reliable motorcycle with no widespread common faults. As a single-cylinder engine, the power delivery can be punchy at low revs, which slightly accelerates normal chain wear if maintenance is neglected.

This is a checklist, not a diagnosis. Anything that fails, or that you can't check, is worth a mechanic's pre-purchase inspection. Amber “unverified” tags mean we couldn't confirm that figure against a manufacturer source.
